Automatic Mileage and Time Tracking records every work mile and minute effortlessly—no manual entry needed. Available exclusively to Gridwise Plus members.
How to Turn On Automatic Mileage and Time Tracking
- Tap your profile picture in the upper left corner.
- Tap the Settings gear icon in the upper right corner.
- Select Mileage and Time Tracking.
- Choose Automatic Tracking.
- Set a timeout period—how long Gridwise waits after you stop moving before ending mileage tracking.
- Start driving or delivering, and Gridwise will track your mileage and time in the background.
- Your mileage and time will save once you stop driving and the timeout period has passed.
⚠️ Logging out of Gridwise resets your tracking preference to manual.
Selecting a Timeout Period
The timeout setting determines how long you must remain stationary before tracking stops. Choose what fits your work:
- Short timeout (3–10 minutes): Great for short breaks or frequent stops. You’ll capture more detail but may see more mileage entries to review.
- Long timeout (30 minutes–3 hours): Ideal if you often wait between trips or orders.
How to Classify Entries
Because automatic tracking runs in the background, it may capture personal miles too. Reviewing and classifying keeps your records accurate.
- Go to the Earnings tab.
- Tap Classify Entries at the top under Miles and Time.
- Swipe right to mark as business or swipe left to mark as personal.
- Select the companies you were working for during that time.
- Tap Done to save.
To edit an entry later, tap on it and update as needed.
Best Practices for Automatic Mileage and Time Tracking
- Review weekly: Check your entries each week to confirm business vs. personal trips are categorized correctly.
- Keep your timeout consistent: Once you find a setting that fits your workflow, stick with it for cleaner data.
- Stay logged in: Keeping Gridwise open ensures automatic tracking works whenever you start driving.
- Check after long breaks: If you pause longer than your timeout period, confirm tracking resumed when you got back on the road.
