How to Fix Mileage Tracking Issues in Gridwise

Tracking your miles and expenses is key to maximizing your earnings and minimizing your tax burden as a flex worker.

If your mileage isn’t tracking accurately, follow this guide to review your settings and apply the best practices for reliable tracking.

Confirm Your Device Settings

Allow Location Access at All Times

• iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Gridwise → Always
• Android: Settings → Apps → Gridwise → Permissions → Location → Allow all the time

Turn On Precise Location

• iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Gridwise → Precise Location
• Android: Settings → Apps → Gridwise → Permissions → Location → Use precise location

Enable Motion and Fitness Activity

• iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness → Gridwise
• Android: Settings → Apps → Gridwise → Permissions → Physical activity → Allow

Confirm Cellular Data Is On

• iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data
• Android: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Mobile data

Turn On Wi-Fi

• iPhone: Settings → Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi
• Android: Settings → Network & internet → Internet → Wi-Fi

Enable Background App Refresh

• iPhone: Settings → General → Background App Refresh → Gridwise
• Android: Settings → Apps → Gridwise → Mobile data & Wi-Fi → Background data

Allow Unrestricted Battery Usage (Android only)

• Android: Settings → Apps → Gridwise → App battery usage → Unrestricted

Additional Tips for Accurate Mileage Tracking

1. Keep your device plugged in while tracking to maintain accuracy.
2. Turn off low-power or battery-saving mode during your shift.
3. Check the Gridwise app periodically (when safe to do so) to confirm tracking is active.
4. Start the shift tracker at the beginning of your shift.

5. Avoid using Gridwise while connected to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
6. Use Gridwise on only one device (mobile only; iPads are not supported).
7. Toggle off your shift tracker when you finish working.
