Automatic Mileage Tracking not accurate

I noticed that my automatic mileage tracking doesn’t stop tracking as long as I keep holding and using my phone even when I have stopped driving. For example, my driving was from 5:15 pm - 7:15 pm yesterday but the mileage to review recorded 5:15pm - 7:09 am the next morning. Is there anything I can do to make it stop recording small phone movements and only track when I am driving?
